Story Behind the Name

Mae Bay Cottage is a charming retreat in Williams Bay on Lake Geneva, named in honor of Ken’s beloved grandmother, Mae. The name beautifully blends family history with the cottage’s location, as “Bay” comes from its picturesque setting in Williams Bay. This tradition of meaningful naming follows in the footsteps of Leo Cottage, named after Kate’s grandfather.

The name “Mae” holds even more significance, as May has always been Kate’s family’s special month—when they prepare for the summer season ahead, welcoming longer days and cherished lake time. To make it even more personal, they embraced the spelling of Mae, just as Ken’s grandmother had.

Adding to its thoughtful details, Mae Bay Cottage also features a special design touch from our treasured Kate Marker Home tile line—our Mae tile, showcased in the kids’ bathroom. This unique element further weaves family heritage into the home, creating a space filled with warmth, love, and timeless memories.
